New-York Fashion Week S/S 20

Hello,

Fashion month is finally here! Like always, the Big Four* starts with New-York City. From Wednesday, September 4, 2019 to Wednesday, September 11, 2019, 96 designers including Self Portrait, Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Spade, Chromat, Naeem Khan, 3.1 Phillip Lim, LaQuan Smith, Prabal Gurung, Pyer Moss, Anna Sui, Proenza Schouler presented their spring/summer 2020 collections to fashion editors, creative directors, buyers, stylists, casting directors, photographers, journalists, celebrities and influencers.

This year, not all the shows were centralized at Spring Studios (TriBeCa neighborhood). A lot of designers opted for more unconventional locations. Tom Ford, the new Chairman of CFDA took his audience underground. His show was held on an empty train platform at Bowery station in Lower East Side, Little Italy.

Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, co-creative directors paid tribute to Oscar de la Renta's Dominican heritage at the Cunard building in Lower Manhattan's Financial District. It used to be a ticket office for a ship line in the 20's. It's now an office building.

Wes Gordon, creative director of Carolina Herrera organized an outdoor runway show at Battery Park (Lower Manhattan's Financial District). And the TommyxZendaya collection was presented at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. It was a 70's party with a live band and models danced their way down the runway. You can find most of the shows online.

This street style selection is very colorful. You will see lots of suits, oversized and belted blazers, midi skirts with boots and pleated skirts with sneakers, oversized blazer dresses with mules or cowboy boots. Colorful leather jackets, balloon sleeves and organza blouses are by far my favorite current fashion trends. Cat eye sunglasses and the mini bag from Jacquemus are still the best accessories of the season.

See below some of the most inspiring street style looks from New/York Fashion Week 2020 .

* the "Big Four" represents the biggest fashion weeks around the world in terms of media coverage and income. They are held in the following fashion capitals: New-York, London, Milan and Paris.
