I hope everybody's doing well. Last week-end, we changed the clocks and switched to winter time which means that by the end of next month it'll get dark around 4pm. Tell me why I'm already thinking about spring...
Anyway, the global pandemic is affecting a lot of industries, fashion included. Major luxury brands such as Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Saint Laurent and Marc Jacobs have decided to skip this season of fashion weeks and set their own calendar. Physical shows were still held however, more and more designers opted for digital presentations.
I had the opportunity to watch several online shows and one trend stood out from the four fashion capitals: the quilted jacket. Originally from the UK, this coat has a particular sewing technique. Different layers of fabric are sewed together to create a thicker material. To put it simply, it looks like a duvet. You can wear this minimalist coat open or tie it with a belt for a more feminine and elevated look. I've actually found one in a vintage store last Saturday. I'll shoot it as soon as I can.
I've also noticed that coats are particularly colorful this season. Yes, the weather is gloomy and cold but that doesn't mean we should dress like Morticia Adams until next spring. Keep scrolling to see some of my favorite quilted jackets.
